Agriculture - - At Agrilink - BY JULIO P. YAP, JR.

DURING THIS YEAR’S EDITION of Agrilink, one of the most visited exhibit booths is that of the Allied Botanical Corporation (ABC).

This is mainly because ABC featured more species and varieties of vegetables and flowering ornamentals.

Noticeable of which is its sunflower varieties which were very prolific and attractive.

Another display that attracted the interest of the visitors is the purple corn variety which is very sweet-tasting, soft, and very nice and enjoyable to eat from the cob when boiled or steamed.

The purple corn variety was also made available, cooked, in one of the outdoor exhibit booths of ABC at a very affordable price.

The new corn variety will soon be made available in the market, according to ABC Region-4B and Region-5 area sales manager Rudy Dean.

Different fresh vegetables that were grown from the seeds distributed by ABC such as Condor, Sakata, Rijk Zwaan, and many others, were also made available like lettuce, different varieties of tomatoes, ampalaya, squash, Korean radish, eggplant, and a lot more others.

ABC also displayed its different varieties of watermelon and melon which are all very prolific.

One thing that got the interest of the lady visitors is Sakata’s F1 hybrid Lisianthus – a rose-like flowering ornamental plant.

The Lisianthus has excellent rose formed flower bud, with thick petal for long-lasting shelf life that allows easy transportation.

ABC also featured different farm inputs like Koppert Biological Systems, Peters, Nordox, and many others the company distributes in the country.

Allied Botanical Corporation is the leading supplier, producer and breeder of vegetable seeds in the Philippines.

With a solid program for localized breeding, the company prides itself with its rigid selection and breeding for tropical vegetables.

ABC is a supplier of the best quality vegetable and flower seeds a grower can find in the Philippines.

It carried some of the world’s best known brands in the horticulture business, where each brand is a symbol of excellence and specialization in its field.
