Wildlife en­thu­si­asts raised a furor when the blue-naped par­rot im­printed on the 500-piso ban­knote lacked a red beak, which the Bangko Sen­tral ng Pilip­inas chalked up to color lim­i­ta­tions of the bill’s de­sign. One gov­ern­ment agency that got the blue-naped par­rot’s col­or­ing right is the Philip­pine Postal Cor­po­ra­tion, which had pre­vi­ously fea­tured the bird in four dif­fer­ent stamp col­lec­tions: the ASEANPEX ’94 com­mem­o­ra­tive set, and three reg­u­lar sets fea­tur­ing na­tive birds of the Philip­pines in 2007 and 2008.
