The Pray­ing Man­tis are car­niv­o­rous in­sects that be­long to the in­sect fam­ily Man­ti­dae. They range in size from less than half an inch to about six inches long. The name seems to be taken from the Greek word mean­ing "prophet" or "sooth­sayer."
