Maute nagpaabot ng surrender feelers; Marawi siege tatapusin na

Inihayag kahapon ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana na nakatanggap ng surrender feeler ang gobyerno mula sa mga teroristang Maute Group, kasunod ng pagkakabawi ng pamahalaan sa White Mosque na ilang buwang kinubkob ng grupo sa Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

Ayon kay Lorenzana, idinaan ng Maute Group ang surrender feelers ng mga ito sa House committee on Muslim affairs.

Nagpahayag ng pangamba ang Maute na papatayin sila ng militar kapag sumuko sila.

Gayunman, tiniyak ni Lorenzana sa mga susukong terorista na hindi sasaktan ang mga ito.

“Kahapon, during the Marawi briefing by the Muslim Affairs Committee, ang sabi nila (Maute) gusto nilang sumurender. Sabi ko, walang problema,” sinabi kahapon ni Lorenzana.

“In fact the AFP Western Mindanao Command, our troops in Marawi. everyday they use a bullhorn asking them if they want to surrender. They should come out with their hands up in the air. Anytime they want to surrender, they can get out. They won’t be killed as per their request,” pagtitiyak pa ng kalihim.

“Of course we will not kill people who are surrendering. Our soldiers are not murderers. We will take them in and its up to the courts do decide on the cases we will file against them. But they will not be killed if they surrender,” sabi pa ni Lorenzana.

Kasabay nito, sinabi ni Lorenzana na posibleng matapos na ang giyera sa Marawi City sa mga susunoda na araw, habang nagpapatuloy ang mopping-up operations ng mga tropa ng pamahalaan.

“Kausap ko kagabi si Lt. Gen ( Carlito) Galvez, AFP Western Mindanao Command chief, at sabi niya isang block na lang na malaki, one block. I think mukhang by Sunday tapos na ito, eh. Kaunti na lang, its just clearing up operation,” ani Lorenzana. “My statement is based on the assessment of commanders (on the ground) last week. Let’s see.”

Ito rin ang pinaniniwalaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte nang sabihin niya nitong Huwebes na posibleng matapos na ang krisis sa Marawi sa pagtatapos ng Setyembre.

“Today, we are still fighting but I hope that by the end of the month, we’d be able to resolve the issue,” sinabi ni Duterte nitong Huwebes sa pagbisita niya sa Balangiga, Eastern Samar.

“As I have said, we are all Filipinos and if by the grace of God, we’re able to finish everything, the business of stopping the rebellion, not necessarily killing, we will be happy,” aniya pa.

Batay sa huling taya ng militar, sinabi ni Lorenzana na hindi na aabot sa 100 ang mga teroristang nananatili sa main battle area sa Marawi.
