Palasyo sa UN rapporteurs: ‘Wag gamitin ang posisyon para ipahiya ang ‘Pinas

Nanawagan ang Malacañang sa dalawang Pilipino na United Nations special rapporteurs na tigilan ang paggamit sa kanilang posisyon para ipahiya ang administrasyong Duterte sa pandaigdigang komunidad.

Ito ay matapos banggitin nina U.N. Human Rights Council’s special rapporteurs on the rights of indigenous peoples and internally displaced people Victoria Tauli-Corpuz at Cecilia Jimenez-Damary ang diumano’y mga pang-aabuso sa mga karapatang pantao ng mga katutubo at mga lumikas na mamamayan sa Mindanao.

Inakusahan ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, sa isang pahayag ang dalawang rapporteur ng partisanship at umapela na maging mas maingat sila sa kanilang mga sinasabi.

“Now as Filipinos, the special rapporteurs should have documented the cases of alleged targeting of lumads and brought these cases to the proper authorities, to the police and the prosecutor for preliminary investigation so that the proper information could be filed in court,” pahayag ni Roque sa mga mamamahayag sa Palasyo.

Ayon kay Roque, marahil ay nais nina Corpuz at Damary na pagmukhaing masama ang kasalukuyang administrasyon.

“The fact that they did it so publicly could only have been because they intended to embarrass the Philippine government in the international community,” aniya.

“I appeal to these two Filipinos, who all be it are special rapporteurs, not to use their post for the purpose of embarrassing the Duterte administration,” dagdag niya.

Sa pahayag na inilabas nitong Miyerkules ng gabi, sinabi ng UN special rapporteurs na maaaring lumala pa ang pangaabuso sa mga karapatang pantao ng mga katutubong Lumad sa Mindanao matapos pagtibayin ng Kongreso ang pagpapalawig ng martial law sa katimugan ng bansa hang- gang sa katapusan ng 2018.

“They are suffering massive abuses of their human rights, some of which are potentially irreversible,” sabi ng dalawang rapporteurs.

“We fear the situation could deteriorate further if the extension of martial law until the end of 2018 results in even greater militarization,” dagdag nila.

Sinabi ng U.N. experts na mayroon silang impormasyon na 2,500 Lumad ang lumikas simula Oktubre, at ilang magsasakang Lumad ang pinatay ng militar noong Disyembre 3 sa lalawigan ng South Cotabao.

”We fear that some of these attacks are based on unfounded suspicions that Lumads are involved with militant groups or in view of their resistance to mining activities on their ancestral lands,” anila, nang hindi nagbibigay ng detalye.
