Digong appoints exGabriela rep to DSWD
PRESIDENT Duterte has appointed former Gabriela Representative Luzviminda Ilagan and fellow Davaoeño as undersecretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Duterte signed the appointment of Ilagan on September 13, weeks after the ad interim appointment of former social welfare secretary Judy Taguiwalo was rejected by the Commission on Appointments (CA).
Ilagan served as a representative of Gabriela Women’s Party-list from 2007 to 2016.
Ilagan also served as a Davao City councilor after he was appointed by former president Corazon Aquino. Duterte, who was also appointed by Aquino, was a vice mayor during that time.
Like Taguiwalo, Ilagan is known to be left-leaning.
I lagan’s group Gabriela was among the member of the Makabayan group, which cut its al liance with the House supermajority. —
