Foton eyes three-peat in PSL Grand Prix
BACK-TO-BACK champion Foton is leaving no stone unturned to win a historic threepeat in the Philippine Superliga slated next month.
This early, the Tornadoes have completed their lineup including three imports all coming in from Europe, according to team owner Rommel Sytin.
Open spikers Sara Klisura and Dragana Perunicic will be joined by libero Katarina Vukomanovic in the Foton roster already brimming with local talents led by Jaja Santiago, sister Dindin Manabat, Maika Ortiz, CJ Rosario, Ej Laure and Dzi Gervacio.
“We have a complete team, hopefully we are strong enough to defend the title because other teams have also made their build-up,” said Sytin.
The team has already started training weeks back under Serbian Moro Branislav. Klisura and Perunicic have arrived weeks ahead, while Vukomanovic planed in recently.
Klisura is a 25-year-old smasher from Serbia who even had a stint with the national team.
She’s a personal choice of Branislav, having played in a Romanian club team. The same with Perunicic, 24, who played for Montenegro.
Vukomanovic is a libero from Serbia. The 26-year-old played for Vizura Beograd.
For the season-ending Grand Prix, PSL rules allow teams to hire three foreign players provided that only two can play at the same time, and that the third player must either be a libero or setter.
PSL Grand Prix starts on Oct. 21. —
