Adamson Team Standings: Ateneo (7-0); DLSU (6-2); Adamson (5-2); FEU (44); UP (4-4); NU (3-4); UE (1-6); UST (0-8) ATENEO de Manila University and Adamson University put their winning streaks on the line today when they square off at the start of their second round campaigns in UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
Playing like a welloiled machine on both ends of the floor, the Blue Eagles swept the first round capped by a nail biting 76-75 win over fierce rival De La Salle University last Sunday.
But it doesn’t get any easier for the Eagles as they face a streaking Adamson squad which won its last four games to end the first round.
“It’s bad news for us,” said Ateneo assistant coach Sandy Arespacochaga. “Adamson is on a roll.”
University of the East shoots for back-to-back victories for the first time this season when it battles National University in the first game at 2 p.m.
Buoyed by stellar performances from Alvin Pasaol, the Warriors have newfound confidence as they look to turn their fortunes around after winning just one of their seven games in the first round.
Pasaol has averaged 40.5 points in the last two games, hitting a seasonhigh 49 points against the Archers a couple of weeks ago, before firing 32 points in the 96-91 victory over University of Santo Tomas last Saturday. —
