Bruins rules Powerman PH Asian Championships

RUN-bike-run may soon replace triathlon’s swimbike-run during the holding of the 2017 Powerman Philippines Asian Championships at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga presented by Summit Natural Drinking Water.

Thomas Bruins of the Netherlands trailed in the first run part, took the lead in the bike part of the race and then went on to coast to victory to rule the Classic event. Aussie Matt Smith came in second while Emmanuel Commendador emerged the best Filipino finisher at third.

John Leerams Chicano, who pocketed a silver medal in the recent Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Raymund Torio ended up fourth and fifth, respectively.

Fi l i p i n a Mi che ll e Gilbuena also held her ground and topped the women’s side of Powerman Classic. She beat Aussie Alexandra McDougall.

Japanese Aira Sawada captured the women’s crown in the Powerman Short category of the event organized by P& F International Events Group.

Filipina Bid Ferreira finished second in the 5km run-30km bike-5km run.
