BFAR offers scholarship for fisherfolks’ children
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro—The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Mimaropa region has launched the Fisheries Industry Leader (FIL) and Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FCEG) scholarship programs regionwide.
Fisheries Scholarship Program Focal Person, Rasalie Masinas of BFAR, said children of fishermen can avail of the program.
Masinas said benefits being offered to the scholars were free tuition; monthly stipend of P4,000; book a llowance of P2,000; thesis support amounting to P7,000 outright grant per scholar upon submission of Certified True Copy of thesis proposal and approval sheet; and a graduation support of P1,500 per scholar.
Requirements are as follows: must be a natural-born Filipino citizen; any high school graduate or high school graduating student; child of a registered municipal fisherfolk; not more than 25 years old; for high school graduate applicants, he/she must not be presently enrolled in any school/college/university; with good moral character certified by the school head; and parents or guardian must be a registered municipal fisherfolk duly certified by the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) or the BFAR regional office in his/her area and should be a re-sident of the municipality for at least six months.
