Militiaman shot in front of wife, kid
A government militiaman was wounded when shot by an unidentified man in front of his common-law wife and young son, during a power outage in Alamada, North Cotabato, Monday night.
Roel Nathial, an active member of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit, suffered wounds from a bullet that went through the right arm, said Supt. Bernard Tayong, North Cotabato provincial police spokesman.
The incident occurred past 8 p.m. in Purok 3, Brgy. Rangayen.
Nathial was walking home, along with his live-in partner and their 9-year-old son, when the suspect approached and shot him, Tayong said.
The assailant then ran towards a dark portion of the area, taking advantage of the short blackout, he said.
Nathial was was brought to the Alamada Provincial Community Hospital for treatment.
Investigators are still trying to determine the assailant's identity, whereabouts, and motive.—
