Du30 urges Filipino-Muslims to join him in nation building
PRESIDENT Duterte urged Filipino Muslims to continue contributing to nationbuilding by helping the poor and marginalized members of Philippine society.
“By demonstrating the noble teachings of Islam, it is my fervent hope that you continue to do good deeds for the poor and the marginalized members of the society,” said the President in a statement on Thursday.
President Duterte made the remarks as Filipino Muslims began observing the holy month of Ramadan on Thursday, May 17.
During this holy month, physically and mentally fit Muslims are mandated to fast from dawn until sunset.
In his message, the President appealed to Filipino Muslims to join him in nation-building.
“I ask that you foster a sense of solidarity among all Filipinos by manifesting faith through action,” he said.
Mr. Duterte added: “Let us join hands in the shared task of nationbuilding as we make the Philippines a more inclusive, peaceful and united country in the years to come.”
The President also stressed the need to “make sacrifices not only to overcome personal difficulties but also to create meaningful and lasting strides in our communities.”
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque also extended his greetings to Filipino Muslims.
“With the sighting of the crescent moon which signifies the start of the holy month of Ramadan, I would like to greet our Muslim brothers and sisters in the Philippines, Ramadan Mubarak! May Allah bless all of you with happiness and grace your home with warmth and peace,” said Roque.
