Ladies tour goes international
THE International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) Ladies Philippine Golf Tour goes international again with its first two legs serving as part of the Taiwan Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour, guaranteeing another crack international rosters for the twin events set at Splendido and Manila Southwoods.
Korean Ye-nah Hwang nipped local amateur ace Princess Superal by one for the inaugural ICTSI Ladies Open at Southlinks last year with this year’s ICTSI Champion Tour at Splendido, also presented by Champion Infinity, and the Taiwan LPGA slated fron March 9 to 11 at the wind-raked Splendido Taal Golf Club in Tagaytay City.
Recognizing the growing status of the LPGT in the region, the Taiwan LPGA has also made the next LPGT leg at Southwoods part of its circuit with the same Splendido field tipped to vie for the ICTSI Champion Tour at Manila Southwoods, also presented by Champion Infinity, and the Taiwan LPGA from March 16 to 18 at the Legends course in Carmona, Cavite.
The LPGT events, serving as the sixth and seventh legs of the 22-stage Taiwan LPGA, offer a total prize fund of $75,000 each.
That ensures a slam-bang action along with the rest of the LPGT schedule, now stretched to 10 legs, the biggest thus far in the four-year- old circuit sponsored by the ICTSI and organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc. (PGTI).
“We take pride in hosting two Taiwan LPGA Tour legs, which only underscores the LPGT’s emerging status as one of the circuits to play in the region,” PGTI General Manager Colo Ventosa said. “The twin events will also give our local players the chance to measure up with their foreign counterparts and, at the same time, raise the level of play here.”
