Ronda mayor, 5 others face graft charges for fail­ing to post bid in­vite on PhilGEPS

THE OF­FICE of the Om­buds­man has found prob­a­ble cause to charge six lo­cal ex­ec­u­tives of Ronda, Cebu, in­clud­ing Mayor Mar­i­ano Y. Blanco III, for 15 counts of graft for fail­ure to post the in­vi­ta­tions to bid for 15 projects on the Philip­pine Gov­ern­ment Elec­tronic Pro­cure­ment Sys­tem (PhilGEPS) from 2012 un­til 2013. The others charged, ac­cord­ing to an Om­buds­man re­lease, are: Mu­nic­i­pal En­gi­neer Oscar Pilapil, Mu­nic­i­pal Bud­get Of­fi­cer Thelma Lan­diza, Mu­nic­i­pal As­sis­tant Trea­surer Brigida Cabaron, clerk Frauline Re­qui­lme, and util­ity worker Evelina Tan. The projects in­volve, among others, medicines and the con­struc­tion of schools, health cen­ter, and other pub­lic in­fra­struc­ture.
