-

A MULTI-AGENCY team has been formed by the municipal government of San Fernando, Cebu to check on all poultry farms in the coastal town after one was ordered closed due to unsanitary practices. The Composite Inspection Team Alpha (CITA)-III, created through an executive order issued by Mayor Lakambini G. Reluya, is composed of representatives from the sanitary office, mayor’s office, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection and the National Disaster Risk Reduction Council. Ms. Reluya ordered the closure of Twin Towers Poultry Farm owned by a certain Marcelino Co effective June 16 after it was found to have violated rules on the disposal of manure and dead livestock, and the dumping of water waste into the river. The mayor has also confirmed that a fly infestation, which has resulted to health problems among residents of Barangay Magsico, was due to the mismanagement of Twin Towers Poultry Farm. The farm has also been found to be operating illegally for a year. —
