As chairholder of the 2017 Chief Jus­tice Panganiban Pro­fes­so­rial Chair on Lib­erty and Prosperity, Far Eastern Uni­ver­sity (FEU) – Makati In­sti­tute of Law dean Atty. Me­len­cio Sta. Maria (4th from left), de­liv­ered a talk on “Hu­man Rights, Pol­i­tics, In­ter­na­tional Law and Trade Ar­range­ment and Eco­nomic Prosperity: A Read­ing of the Philip­pine Sit­u­a­tion.” The lec­ture was held last Septem­ber 26, 2017 at the FEU Makati Mini Theater. Atty. Sta. Maria high­lighted the need to pro­tect hu­man rights to sus­tain eco­nomic growth, par­tic­u­larly in re­la­tion to trade with the United States and the Euro­pean Union. A part­ner­ship be­tween the Metrobank Foun­da­tion, Inc. (MBFI) and the Foun­da­tion for Lib­erty and Prosperity (FLP) since 2012, the pro­fes­so­rial chair aims to en­cour­age ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tions and law schools to re­search and prop­a­gate dis­ser­ta­tions on ar­eas of na­tional con­cern.
