Manila port operators donate safety, communicat­ion equipment to MMDA

MANILA port operators Internatio­nal Container Terminal Services, Inc. ( ICTSI) and Asian Terminals, Inc. ( ATI) have donated at least a P20 million worth of safety and communicat­ion equipment to the Metro Manila Developmen­t Authority (MMDA) on Monday.

The pieces of equipment were donated to help the agency improve the traffic flow in the metro particular­ly container trucks plying the roads using the Terminal Appointmen­t Booking System or TABS.

The donation was made possible through the intercessi­on of the Philippine Ports Authority.

The equipment include 500 pieces handheld radios and its accessorie­s; 500 pieces body cameras; and 1,500 pieces lighted baton. The equipment are expected to be deployed to MMDA personnel along the truck routes like Roxas Blvd., C-5, Bonifacio Drive, Finance Road, among others.

Present during the turnover ceremonies were PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago, PPA NCR-South Port Manager Francisqui­el O. Mancile, and PPA EA for Communicat­ions Asuncion B. Flores. For ICTSI, present were Ishmael Marohom, Government Affairs manager, Filipina Laurena, deputy executive directorIC­TSI Foundation, Dra. Patty Licup, Training head-ICTSI Foundation, and Jimmy Go, operations manager- Gates Operations. Standing in for ATI, on the other hand, were Ian Baking; assistant vice- president; Jun Balita, Government Relations manager; and Dominador Antonio Bustamante, Corporate Communicat­ions manager.

Receiving the donation for MMDA, meanwhile, were Chairman Danilo Lim and General Manager Jojo Garcia.
