Aussies to head­line 5150 Triathlon in Su­bic

AUS­TRALIAN triath­letes will be among the top con­tenders in the Re­gent 5150 Triathlon that will be held at the Acea Su­bic Bay in Olon­gapo on June 4.

Sam Bet­ten, the de­fend­ing cham­pion of the men’s pro di­vi­sion of the race, will be join­ing the 1.5-kilo­me­ter swim, 40K bike and 10K run race or­ga­nized by Sun­rise Events Inc. (SEI).

As of May 18, more than a hun­dred triath­letes have al­ready en­listed to join the race with 10 pro­fes­sional triath­letes vy­ing for supremacy in the pro di­vi­sion. Join­ing Bet­ten is fel­low Aussie triatheltes Dan Brown, Mitch Robins, An­nelies Jef­fries, Ben Allen, Dim­ity Lee Duke and Kerry Mul­hol­land. Other pro triath­letes vy­ing in the race are Hun­gar­ian Anna Eber­hardt, Kiwi Laura Wood and Amer­i­can Iain Alexan­dridis.

Ce­buano John Philip Dueñas will be com­pet­ing in the Asian-elite cat­e­gory along with Bo­holano Paul Ju­mamil, Banjo Norte, Au­gust Bene­dicto, Tom Navasero and Manuel Dela Serna.

The race is part of a se­ries of tune-up triathlon events lead­ing to the Co­bra Iron­man Philip­pines on Au­gust 6.
