Pinamungajan residents get free medical services
Residents from the hinterland barangay of Anislag and nearby barangay of Duangan in Pinamungajan town received free medical services during the medical mission organized by Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC) recently.
SEDC served a total of 1,002 patients, according to Human Resource Manager Mitzie Almira Carin.
At least 732 residents availed of free consultations and free medicines, while 35 others had their teeth checked up and the decayed ones extracted by the dentists.
Optometrists rendered free services to 185 eye patients and distributed free spectacles to those in need.
Volunteer doctors also circumcised 50 young boys.
Mayor Glen Baricuatro sent the town’s rural health unit staff and barangay health workers of Anislag and Duangan to assist the physicians.
Barangay Captains Marcelo Quia-ot of Anislag, Annette Navarro of Duangan and Juan Candole of Sibago also assisted the mission.
Anislag resident Julita Gener- alao, 48, was glad that her son Benjie, 9, was already circumcised.
“Dugay intawn natuli akong anak tungod sa kawad-on. Maong daku kaayo ni nga tabang nga nakabenepisyo akong anak sa libreng tuli nga gidalit sa Solid Earth (It took long for my son to be circumcised due to financial hardship. This (medical mission) enabled my son to avail of free cir- cumcision from Solid Earth),” Generalao said.
Construction worker Fermin Alfara Sr., 43, of Sitio Bougainvilla, Anislag, said he was pleased that his son Fermin Jr. had his decayed tooth extracted for free.
He said he was relieved of the burden of bringing his son to the town proper to see a dentist and spending money for the medicines.
Claudia Bacaro, 54, of Sitio Biasong, Duangan, got delighted that she could now read clearly again after some years now.
“Dili tawn mi maka- afford og palit og antipara sama ani. Makaklaro na ko, makabasa na jud ko og balik (We, here, could not afford to buy eyeglasses like these. I can now see and read clearly),” she said.
