Song about love for na­ture wins San­dugo songfest '17

SONGWRITER Joseph Gara veered away from ro­man­tic love genre to take away the Bo­hol San­dugo Song Fes­ti­val 2017 tro­phy. Gara, renowned lo­cal singer and songwriter, bested 11 other con­tenders with his com­po­si­tion Awit sa Han­gin, dur­ing the com­pe­ti­tion last July 20, 2017 at the Bo­hol Cul­tural Cen­ter.

Gara’s en­try was in­ter­preted by Tawag ng Tang­ha­lan win­ner Julia Faith Joaquin who was also judged as Best Per­former and re­ceived P5,000 with tro­phy.

In sec­ond place was Ikaw Na Ba, writ­ten by Nandy Mani­wan about ques­tions the heart makes when meet­ing love is meant to be. It was in­ter­preted by an­other Tawag ng Tang­ha­lan win­ner Alma Mida Golosino.

Third placer was Sa Una Ug Karon about love that is last­ing writ­ten by Char­l­ven Re­mo­lador and in­ter­preted by Apri­lyn Re­mo­lador.

The win­ning com­poser re­ceived P40,000 with tro­phy, while run­ners- up got P30,000 and P20,000, re­spec­tively. All 12 fi­nal­ists also got P10,000 as qual­i­fy­ing prize.

Con­tenders per­formed be­fore a dis­tin­guished panel of judges com­prised by Anne Mil­li­cent Dua­ban, lead vo­cal­ist of Spoogo Band; Mitch Mo­rala, mu­si­cal di­rec­tor and ar­ranger and mu­sic pro­ducer; chaired by renowned songwriter and mu­si­cian Jimmy Borja.

Themed Bol- anong Musika, Amon­a­hon Ta, the Bo­hol San­dugo Song Fes­ti­val 2017 is or­ga­nized by Isang Dugo Foun­da­tion and the Pro­vin­cial Gov­ern­ment of Bo­hol, with the Song Fes­ti­val com­mit­tee headed by Ed­die Orig with Ben Redulla, Boni Quirog, Yoyon Ra­ma­sola, Rene Bal­bin, and Totsi Es­co­bia as mem­bers./
