Song about love for nature wins Sandugo songfest '17
SONGWRITER Joseph Gara veered away from romantic love genre to take away the Bohol Sandugo Song Festival 2017 trophy. Gara, renowned local singer and songwriter, bested 11 other contenders with his composition Awit sa Hangin, during the competition last July 20, 2017 at the Bohol Cultural Center.
Gara’s entry was interpreted by Tawag ng Tanghalan winner Julia Faith Joaquin who was also judged as Best Performer and received P5,000 with trophy.
In second place was Ikaw Na Ba, written by Nandy Maniwan about questions the heart makes when meeting love is meant to be. It was interpreted by another Tawag ng Tanghalan winner Alma Mida Golosino.
Third placer was Sa Una Ug Karon about love that is lasting written by Charlven Remolador and interpreted by Aprilyn Remolador.
The winning composer received P40,000 with trophy, while runners- up got P30,000 and P20,000, respectively. All 12 finalists also got P10,000 as qualifying prize.
Contenders performed before a distinguished panel of judges comprised by Anne Millicent Duaban, lead vocalist of Spoogo Band; Mitch Morala, musical director and arranger and music producer; chaired by renowned songwriter and musician Jimmy Borja.
Themed Bol- anong Musika, Amonahon Ta, the Bohol Sandugo Song Festival 2017 is organized by Isang Dugo Foundation and the Provincial Government of Bohol, with the Song Festival committee headed by Eddie Orig with Ben Redulla, Boni Quirog, Yoyon Ramasola, Rene Balbin, and Totsi Escobia as members./
