Profile: Most culinary professionals cook because they spent much of their childhood watching and helping their mothers prepare meals for their families at home, but it is the lack of a kitchen that inspired Lor Torres to become a chef. Coming from a small family of just three, eating out was seen as a more practical option, so whenever she was at a friend’s house, she would find herself in their kitchens, learning whatever she could.
After completing Psychology in college, she enrolled at the At- Sunrice Global Chef Academy in Singapore. She worked for five more years in the same country, finding her strength in ItalianMediterranean cuisine while working at the internationally acclaimed restaurant Michelangelo’s. Since coming back to Cebu, she has had various consultancy projects, and is currently busy with her restaurant, Isidra Comfort Cantina, one with a kitchen that she can proudly call her very own.
