Day two

Jog for 11 min­utes, then walk for 2 min­utes. Re­peat twice.

Day three

Jog for 14 min­utes, then walk for 2 min­utes. Re­peat once.

Day Four

Cross-train for 30 min­utes. Do any ac­tiv­ity that’s not run­ning— cy­cling, swim­ming, the el­lip­ti­cal—as long as it revs your heart rate. “You get car­dio ben­e­fits with­out the pound­ing of run­ning,” says Hen­wood.

Week Four

Day one

Jog for 16 min­utes, then walk for 2 min­utes. Re­peat once.

Day two

Jog for for 20 min­utes.

Day three

Jog for 24 min­utes.

Day Four

Cross-train for 35 min­utes.
