Still don’t be­lieve weight lifting and body weight ex­er­cises will get you a slim­mer physique? A new study by the univer­sity of Jyväskylä in Fin­land has proven once and for all that the se­cret to a leaner bod is in re­sis­tance train­ing. the study found that both en­durance and re­sis­tance ex­er­cises ac­ti­vated genes that stim­u­lated the growth of new blood ves­sels and in­creased en­durance, but re­sis­tance ex­er­cise also ac­ti­vated a gene that en­cour­aged mus­cle growth. the more mus­cles you build, the more fat your body burns ef­fi­ciently, lean­ing out and strength­en­ing your body. So pick up those weights and get pump­ing!
