duve T s and don’ T s To us, a bed is purely utilitarian. it’s a platform for sleeping, having sex, and often enough, eating dinner and burning through some netflix. The bedding is merely a drop cloth, and we feel silly if we think too much about how it looks, like critiquing a tuxedo on a dog. after all the time and thought we put into dressing ourselves well enough so that you might think of coming into our bedrooms, when it comes to decorating the bed itself, we’re creatively tapped out. so what if my sheets don’t match my pillowcases? or if i don’t have a sham? (seriously, what is that even and why am i less of a person for not having it?) i’m going to fall asleep either way, whether i’m nestled in between white egyptian cotton or a mismatched set of navy poly- blend sheets. in fact, give me the navy. it hides those stains better. —MATT Goulet
