We’ve all been there—sleeping through our alarm the day of an important meeting, showing up to work looking a hot mess thanks to our sweltering summer commute, having to hide a hangover at brunch with the fam. Let’s be real, it’s not easy always having it together. Between work, family, friends, and relationships, things are bound to slip through the cracks once in a while. But as they say, “even the strongest fall,” right? The inspiration behind Cosmo’s Beauty Survival Guide came from my own sticky situation. I was once asked to style a shoot in the Bahamas for a fashion magazine. As glamorous as it sounds, the job was long hours of grueling physical work (running from location to location on four hours of sleep daily, lifting giant trucks of samples, etc.). By the end of day three, I was so exhausted that I passed out fully clothed, the second my head hit the pillow. Call time the next morning was 5:00 am. I’ve been known to be a bit kulit— overly prepared and organized to the point of being Ocd—but was so drained that I’d slept through my alarm. In fact, I only woke up because someone was knocking at my door to find out where I was. Now, as someone who shows up to work every single day in full cat-eye liner, the first thought that crossed my mind was, yes, “I’m late!” but immediately following was “OMG I have no time to put on makeup!” The horror...
