We’ve all been there—sleep­ing through our alarm the day of an im­por­tant meet­ing, show­ing up to work look­ing a hot mess thanks to our swel­ter­ing sum­mer com­mute, hav­ing to hide a hang­over at brunch with the fam. Let’s be real, it’s not easy al­ways hav­ing it to­gether. Be­tween work, fam­ily, friends, and re­la­tion­ships, things are bound to slip through the cracks once in a while. But as they say, “even the strong­est fall,” right? The in­spi­ra­tion be­hind Cosmo’s Beauty Sur­vival Guide came from my own sticky sit­u­a­tion. I was once asked to style a shoot in the Ba­hamas for a fash­ion mag­a­zine. As glam­orous as it sounds, the job was long hours of gru­el­ing phys­i­cal work (run­ning from lo­ca­tion to lo­ca­tion on four hours of sleep daily, lift­ing gi­ant trucks of sam­ples, etc.). By the end of day three, I was so exhausted that I passed out fully clothed, the sec­ond my head hit the pil­low. Call time the next morn­ing was 5:00 am. I’ve been known to be a bit kulit— overly pre­pared and or­ga­nized to the point of be­ing Ocd—but was so drained that I’d slept through my alarm. In fact, I only woke up be­cause some­one was knock­ing at my door to find out where I was. Now, as some­one who shows up to work ev­ery sin­gle day in full cat-eye liner, the first thought that crossed my mind was, yes, “I’m late!” but im­me­di­ately fol­low­ing was “OMG I have no time to put on makeup!” The hor­ror...
