Once YOU POP

Cosmopolitan (Philippines) - - Know -

Feeling guilty about binge watching your favorite shows this weekend (or, let’s be real, till four in the morning)? Don’t. A 2015 study published in Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity and the Arts claims that you can increase your emotional intelligence and empathy by watching some of your favorite shows. While we’re all for a scientifically-backed excuse to park our butts on the couch and stream reruns like there’s no tomorrow, take note of one caveat: the best results are gained when you focus on high quality, fictional shows, because that’s when your brain needs to fill in the gaps to understand characters. So go ahead, spend your whole weekend bingewatching Game of Thrones. We won’t judge.
