St. Luke’s Medical Center and Makati Medical Center (MMC) can no longer accommodate COVID-19 patients after hitting their maximum capacities.

In separate statements on Monday, St. Luke’s Medical Center and MMC said their COVID-19 beds are all occupied, leaving them with no choice but to assist COVID-infected patients in transfering to other hospitals.

Health Undersecretary and treatment czar Dr. Leopoldo Vega has also revealed in a televised briefing that bed capacity in Metro Manila hospitals for critically ill patients is in the “danger zone” with more than 70 percent occupancy rate.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergiere earlier said that 11 hospitals in the Metro Manila have utilized all its COVID-19 beds, including Veterans Memorial Medical Center, University of Santo Tomas Hospital, University of Perpetual Help and Tondo Medical Center.

The other hospitals are Seamen’s Hospital, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Metro North Medical Center, Las Piñas Doctor’s Hospital, Delos Santos Medical Center, Chinese General Hospital and Capitol Medical Center.
