Hazard pay for Cebu frontliners gets green light
Part of the amount goes to the COVID-19 hazard pay and COVID-19 special risk allowance of medical front liners as well as the first tranche implementation of the modified salary schedule pursuant to the Salary Standardization Law of 2019
The Cebu Provincial Government is set to release this week hazard pays for hospital and frontline Capitol workers as the Provincial Board approved the first supplemental budget amounting to P1.27 billion.
Information from the Cebu Provincial Information Office stated that about 15,000 Capitol employees, particularly those working in the four provincial and 112 district hospitals, are to benefit from the hazard pay.
Sixth District Board Member Glenn Soco, chairman of the Committee on Budget and
Appropriations, explained that aside from the hazard pay, the supplemental budget will also fund cash assistances for the 44 municipalities and seven component Cities and barangays in the province.
“Part of the amount goes to the COVID-19 hazard pay and COVID-19 special risk allowance of medical front liners as well as the first tranche implementation of the modified salary schedule pursuant to the Salary Standardization Law of 2019,” Soco said.
Admininstrative Order (AO) 26 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte on 26 March 2020 stipulated the granting of hazard pay to government workers who physically report to work during the implementation period of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) brought by the coronavirus disease pandemic.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia was granted by the provincial board to grant a P500 daily hazard pay to Capitol employees who continue to report to work amid the growing risk of exposure to the viral respiratory illness.
In Mandaue City, Mayor Jonas Cortes has signed the voucher totaling P35,200,000 for the P200 per day incentive intended for more than 4,000 front liners and other government personnel in the City.
Mandaue City Councilor Joel Seno, who sponsored the resolution, said that employees will receive around P8,800 monthly covering the period of March-May.
