Ten hot foodservice trends for 2014

Opportunity amidst adversity. Yes, the Philippine economy is the best performing economy in Asia (even better than China and Singapore). Yes, our tourism arrivals will exceed targets despite the natural calamities that ravaged some parts of the country. And yes, the malls (particularly Ayala Malls, SM Supermalls, Robinsons Malls, and Megaworld Lifetstyle Malls) will continue to expand in different parts of the country. Amidst this backdrop of opportunities lies the landscape of adversity. Conversely, if there are perennial storms to be weathered in 2014 (lack of food supply caused by climate change, brain-drain in the hotel and restaurant sector, and growing gap between classroom theory and industry practice), we see opportunities abound.

Where, then, lie opportunities? This hot list of foodservice trends hopes to capitalize on the best of what last year had to offer, with the intention of relentlessly inspiring us and pursuing some of these phenomenal successes and push them to even greater heights.
