Tackling the global issue of fighting against food waste
We never leave a trend pass us by. And while we cover most of the good stuff, we haven’t failed to look at the industry’s most pressing subjects.
One that’s very alarming is the triple burden of malnutrition, an alarming coexistence of undernutrition, food insecurity, and obesity. In numbers, one-third of the world’s food production for human consumption every year results in 1.3 billion tons of waste, food that could have otherwise been used to feed hungry communities. If this imbalance continues, we are at risk of food shortage come 2050.
Millions of children are also micronutrient deficient, with malnutrition causing the prevalence of diseases and death. In the same way that heart problems, diabetes and high blood pressure have affected people who are overweight.
This issue should be trending and talked about.
