The TV star

It’s no surprise that owning a Tv-ready Rough Collies will cost you an arm and a leg. Tyrone Talamera, whose prize-winning Rough Collies were imported all the way from Russia, says one should expect to pay between P150,000 to P180,000 for a show-quality puppy.

Hidden potential: Rough Collies were originally used for herding livestock in Scotland, where their thick coats allow them to cope with unrelenting Highland weather conditions. It’s a trait which many find attractive in the breed, along with their loyal and calm temperament.

Fun fact: Being a Hollywood canine has its perks. Pal the Dog, who played Lassie in the ‘50s television series of the same name, was reportedly paid a sum of $4,000 per week during the show’s heyday. That’s a lot of dough for a dog.
