The latest tips and trends to help you get gorgeous
QCan I skip the sunscreen if I’m already wearing makeup with SPF?
The danger of relying on just makeup for sun protection factor (SPF) is you’re likely not getting enough protection, especially if you just spot-correct. Dermatologist Raissa Francisco-pasion says in order to be fully protected, you need “a teaspoon of sunscreen [with a minimum SPF of 30] on your face and neck.” Applying less than that can decrease your product’s protective powers. (A pea-sized amount of SPF 30, for example, will only have the effect of SPF 5.) So unless you’re going to use a teaspoon of foundation all over your face—which we highly discourage—it’s still best to use a separate product as your UV shield. GH recommends: Happy Skin Catch the Sun Brightening UV Gel Cream SPF 40, P999, for the morning, and Catch the Sun On The Go Hydrating UV Mist, P699, for mid-day touch-ups.
