ZAMBOANGA City lass Nancy Leonard hopes to bring honor to the country by staying positive, she told media men at a special gathering at the Yatai Ramen Japanese Restaurant at the Dampa Sea Side in Pasay City on Thursday afternoon.

The 25-year-old model was appointed as the Philippines’ official representative to the 2016 Miss Tourism Queen of the Year pageant in Wenzhou, China, on Sept. 12.

“I want to show the world that Mindanao is a beautiful place and we have a lot to offer. The recent victories of Mindanaoans, including President Duterte and Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz shows that there’s more to my place,” she said.

The Binibining Pilipinas pageant used to send the country’s representatives to the global tilt, with 2013 Bb. PilipinasTourism Cindy Miranda as its last ward to participate.

The Philippine franchise was recently awarded to local pageant maverick Ovette Ricalde, who tapped her former ward, Miss Tourism Philippines Roanne Refrea, to take charge in selecting the Philippines’ representative to the revival edition of the international contest.
