Young talents showcased in Davao City art events
DAVAO City is rife with young talent, as seen in recent and ongoing art events.
Last Aug. 14, Perry Lequigan and members of the youth group Guhit Pinas bagged top honors at the Kadayawan Mural Painting Contest held at the Annex Event Center of SM City Davao.
Aprille Dawn Golimlim and her team placed second, while Leo Patos and his group finished third.
Four days later, Zenia Arante, Carlo Maglinao and Minette Lindy dela Cruz of Tagum National Trade School bested fellow participants to win Mugna Kadayawan, an on-the-spot doodling competition sponsored by the city government of Davao.
The trio’s winning piece celebrated unity in diversity.
‘Art for Everyone’
Meanwhile, “Art for Everyone” at SM Supermalls ran until Aug. 27. It featured works by high school and college students.
The fair gave them a platform to sell their creations in a public venue, and encourages them to pursue their passion for art.
SM Lanang Premier in Davao City showcased the artworks of students from Davao City National High School, University of Mindanao, Ateneo de Davao University, Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology, University of Immaculate Conception, Ford Academy of the Arts Inc., and Fashion Institute of Design and Arts Davao.
