Pinoys promote ‘masculinity and responsibility’ in ‘Misters’ tilt
THE PAGEANT that produced “Mamang Pulis” Neil Perez, the first Filipino to clinch the Mister International title, is rolling out its 2017 edition with 24 aspirants from around the country and several Filipino overseas communities.
Carlo Morris Galang, president of pageant organizer Prime Events Prductions Philippines Foundation Inc., said this year’s Misters of Filipinas contest hopes to further uplift the image of male spageants in the country through its catchphrase “masculinity with responsibility” by highlighting the candidates’ other attributes aside from their “handsome faces and gorgeous bodies.”
Aside from Neil, PO1 Mariano Flormata Jr. in real life, the tilt also produced the country’s first Man of the Year winner, Karan Singhdole. Several other runners up and finalists in global contests also came from the Misters of Filipinas competition.
The candidates to this year’s national competition, now on its fifth year, were presented at the Matrix Creation Events Venue in Quezon City on Sept. 17.
Laoag City’s Carlo Pasion received the most votes from members of the press and received the “Media’s Choice” award.
The 2017 Misters of Filipinas contest will select the country’s representatives to some of the top international male competitions, including Mister International, Mister Supranational, Man of the Year and Man of the World.
The finals will be on Spet. 30 at One Esplanade in Pasay City.
