Life's a beach for Jasmine Curtis

Inquirer Libre - Davao - - PANGUNAHING PAHINA -

JASMINE Curtis had a blast while doing "Siargao," one of the official entries sa Metro Manila Film Festival this year. “I think from the filming to just being there, there is a sense of appreciation you get about life and the simplicity of it. So, when we were filming, nabigyan namin ng oras ang trabaho tapos noong pack-up na or may mga rest days or may mga panahon na ‘yung set namin is sobrang lawak at nandoon ‘yung beach, nae-enjoy mo ang trabaho mo pero at the same time pag-uuwi ka ay napakatahimik. Dinig mo ‘yung mga insekto, dinig mo ang alon. So there was this good blend of work and pleasure for us when we were there. ‘Yung tipong happy ako sa ginagawa ko, happy ako sa trabaho ko and happy ako na nakasama ako (sa movie) kasi napakaganda talaga (ng pelikula). And it makes me think how amazing life can really be if you just to live that way and choose your path. Kumbaga, napaisip ako nang bongga. Kumbaga, nag-life pause ako when I was there. It was a nice way to relax pero at the same time ay productive ka kasi may trabaho ka pa rin sa month na ‘yun. ‘Yun lang, ang hirap bumangon,” she related during the movie’s media huddle. Since shooting was mostly done in the beach, the actress was asked what she felt while wearing a biki- ni. “I think apprehension is more like it. Comfortable ba ako sa sarili kong katawan kasi kapag picture puwede ko pang angguluhan. Pagdating sa film na, medyo mas conscious ako. With this naman kasi, the story is in an island. I can’t act my way out. It’s a commitment that I had to put myself into. Dinadaan na lang namin sa cover up or whatever so that it is still sexy and it still giving to the character’s needs. Pero hindi naman namin sinasara na kailangan ganito lang. Meron namang two-piece diyan. Meron naman kahit isa lang,” she said. To make herself comfortable, hindi na lang pinapansin ni Jasmine ang kanyang suot. “I think we just have to assume that everyone’s professional on the set, walang mababastos. Kumbaga, everyone is there for work. Nasa sa iyo na lang ‘yan kung gusto mong isipin na baka may naninilip or ikaw ma-awkward ka. Pero as far as I’m concerned ay sobrang kumportable namin ni Erich (Gonzales). Kahit na naka-bikini lang kami not because we’re in a beach but because ‘yung sarili naming production is nakabantay dito. So, ayun.”
