Makati Leads - - Citizen's Corner -

“I would like to see, back in its original spot, the beautiful plaster or stone relief by National Artist sculptor Napoleon Abueva that was on the façade of the Insular Life building for many years before it was renovated in the 1980s. Depicting typical scenes of commerce and livelihood in Abueva's trademark style of monumental figures and images, it dominated the important intersection of Ayala Avenue and Paseo de Roxas. It was the correct scale for a public work, and was a landmark in its day. For me, it represents the growth and progress of Makati as an important financial center from the 1970s as it was installed in one of the earliest and best-known buildings in Makati during that time.”
