Iloilo creates road safety task force
ILOILO CITY — Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has created the Provincial Task Force on Road Safety to curb road accidents.
In a January 9 executive order, Defensor defined the duties and responsibilities of the inter-agency task force.
Iloilo Provincial Administrator Raul Banias said road accidents kill more people than dengue.
Defensor said the task force will strictly enforce existing laws with the cooperation of the public and private sectors. Represented in the task force are
the regional offices of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), the Highway Patrol Group of the Philippine National Police (PNP), jeepney and taxi associations, and state colleges and universities.
