CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Local officials here have inaugurated the future site of the regional government center in Calapan which was endorsed by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), the provincial board and other local government units.

Calapan City Mayor Arnan C. Panaligan, who sits as concurrent chairman of the Regional Government Center Management Council (RGCMC), said the regional center will be constructed on a 51,100 square meter government property in Barangay Sta. Isabel near where other vital government institutions are presently located.

Oriental Mindoro Governor Alfonso V. Umali Jr., during a recent meeting of the Regional Development Council said that of the 39 regional government offices, 21 have already submitted their individual master plans and pertinent documents needed for their eventual transfer to this city from their current location in Metro Manila.

Mayor Panaligan said they have drafted a usufruct agreement which will be ratified by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan which also fully supports the move that Oriental Mindoro particularly Calapan City host the government site.
