3 arrested with illegal logs

BUTUAN CITY – A Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, along with the members Police Public Safety Company (PPSC) and Butuan City Police Office (BCPO), arrested three suspects who allegedly attempted to smuggle 3,500 board feet of illegally cut lauan lumbers at South Montilla Boulevard, Barangay J.P. Rizal, Butuan City on Thursday. An initial report received by Chief Supt. Rolando B. Felix, regional director of Northeaste­rn Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) said a truck, bearing a defaced license plate, was flagged down at 6:15 a.m. on Thursday for routine inspection. The inspection resulted in the discovery of the illegally cut lauan lumbers and mixed dipterocar­p species, it said. Arrested were Zaldy M. Lao, Gil Price S. Longanon, and Arniel L. Turlao. (Mike U.
