More class­rooms, teach­ers for IPs

BUTUAN CITY – The Depart­ment of Ed­u­ca­tion (DepEd) is hir­ing more teach­ers to ex­pand the ba­sic ed­u­ca­tion ser­vices for in­dige­nous peo­ple (IPs) in Suri­gao del Sur prov­ince, it was learned yes­ter­day. The DepEd-Suri­gao del Sur de­cided to hire more IP teach­ers fol­low­ing the in­crease of IP pupils and stu­dents in the high­land com­mu­ni­ties. The ed­u­ca­tion agency will hire 36 more teach­ers be­fore the year end of 2017. The DepEd-Suri­gao del Sur is also set to es­tab­lish 30 IP schools that will be strate­gi­cally lo­cated in the high­land com­mu­ni­ties. (Mike U. Crismundo)
