7 CL cops fac­ing KFR raps jailed

3 oth­ers charged with shoot­ing Mus­lim boy

CAMP OLI­VAS, Pam­panga — Seven mem­bers of the An­ge­les City Po­lice Sta­tion ear­lier sacked by Philip­pine Na­tional Po­lice (PNP) Chief Ron­ald dela Rosa for al­legedly kid­nap­ping three Kore­ans in De­cem­ber, 2016, have been jailed upon the or­der of the court.

Mean­while, three other An­ge­les City po­lice of­fi­cers in­volved in the near-fa­tal shoot­ing of a 16-year-old Mus­lim boy in Barangay Bal­ibago last Oc­to­ber 4 have been re­lieved of their posts as they now face a frus­trated mur­der charge.

Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent En­rico H. Var­gas, city po­lice chief, said that upon or­der of An­ge­les City Re­gional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 58 Judge Iri­neo Pangili­nan Jr. joint po­lice op­er­a­tives ar­rested dis­missed cops Roen­t­jen Domingo of the City of San Fer­nando; Jose Yu­mul Jr. of Ma­bal­a­cat; Rom­mel Man­ic­dao of Ma­galang; and Ruben Ro­driguez, Jayson Ibe, Mark Joseph Pineda, and Richard King Agapito, all of An­ge­les City.

They are all charged with kid­nap-for-ran­som (KFR), rob­bery in band, and ex­tor­tion. No bail is rec­om­mended for their tem­po­rary re­lease.

On the other hand, Chief Supt. Amador Cor­pus, Po­lice Re­gional Of­fice 3 di­rec­tor, or­dered the re­lief of Po­lice Of­fi­cers 1 Aizel Deanne Marie Lopez and Os­mond Rivera, and Chief Insp. Dante Cabung­cal, all mem­bers of the An­ge­les City Po­lice Sta­tion 4 for the near-fa­tal shoot­ing of Sal­man Ma­cal.

They now face charges of frus­trated mur­der, vi­o­la­tion of the law that pro­tects mi­nors, per­jury, plant­ing of ev­i­dence, and in­crim­i­nat­ing an in­no­cent per­son be­fore the City Pros­e­cu­tor’s Of­fice and have been placed un­der re­stric­tive cus­tody of the Po­lice Sta­tion 4.
