CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – With the objective of ridding its ranks of scalawags, the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the Caraga region has dismissed 43 policemen from the service from January 1 to November 9 this year.

The dismissed policemen were found guilty for grave misconduct, grave insubordination, serious neglect of duty and grave neglect of duty.

“This is part of our ongoing internal cleansing efforts to instill discipline and build ethics among our ranks,” emphasized Chief Supt. Rolando B. Felix, regional director of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13), in an interview with The Manila Bulletin on Saturday.

“We need cops who are true to their sworn duties and committed to render quality police services,” he pointed out.

Last year, a series of random drug tests was conducted to the uniformed personnel assigned to the regional headquarters, police provincial offices, public safety forces and police stations spread all over northeastern Mindanao region (Caraga).

“Few of those who found positive for the use of illegal drugs were charged administratively for grave misconduct,” the region’s police chief said.

The penalty of dismissal, which resulted in the separation from the service, shall carry with it the cancellation of eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits and disqualification for reemployment in the government service, he said.

“Tuloy itong aming internal cleansing process, this is our continuing program and no one is exempted,” Felix added.
