MMDA clears Tondo street

Act­ing on nu­mer­ous com­plaints by cit­i­zens through 8888 – the gov­ern­ment’s cit­i­zens’ com­plaint cen­ter, the Metropoli­tan Manila De­vel­op­ment Au­thor­ity (MMDA) yes­ter­day cleared a vi­tal road in Tondo, Manila of ob­struc­tions. MMDA Chair­man Danilo Lim led per­son­nel from the Side­walk Clear­ing Op­er­a­tions Group and Task Force Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions in clear­ing Di­nalupi­han Street in Barangay 206, Zone 19 in Tondo.

Il­le­gally parked ve­hi­cles were towed, while ven­dors; stalls and other ob­struc­tions were re­moved from the street and side­walks.

“We re­ceived lots of ob­struc­tion com­plaints in this area about road ob­struc­tions and we have to act on it to widen the road and pro­vide pedes­tri­ans a safe place to walk,” Lim said.
