2 earth­quakes hit Suri­gao del Norte, Maguin­danao

BUTUAN CITY – Two mild earth­quakes jolted Suri­gao del Norte and Maguin­danao provinces Thurs­day, the Philip­pine In­sti­tute of Vol­canol­ogy and Seis­mol­ogy (Phivolcs) re­ported.

The Suri­gao del Norte and Maguin­danao pro­vin­cial dis­as­ter risk re­duc­tion and man­age­ment coun­cils re­ported no dam­age or in­jury from the earth­quakes.

Phivolcs said a mag­ni­tude 3.5 tremor was recorded at 6:55 a.m. with the epi­cen­ter plot­ted 46 kilo­me­ters north­west of Del Car­men town, Siar­gao Is­land, Suri­gao del Norte.

The tremor had a depth of only 1 km, Phivolcs said.

A mag­ni­tude 3.6 quake was ear­lier recorded at 2:20 a.m., Phivolcs said in its bul­letin.

The epi­cen­ter was 6 km south­west of Bul­don, Maguin­danao. (Mike U. Cris­mundo)
