Barangay captain yields drugs, gun

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – A barangay chairman was arrested for alleged possession of illegal drugs and a gun in Gloria town last Saturday. Senior Superintendent Christopher C. Birung, provincial director of Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office (PPO), said Domingo M. Mortel, barangay chairman of Maragooc, Gloria was listed as a high-value target (HVT) of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). A raid of his house, warranted by Municipal Circuit Trial Court Judge Emery Joy M. Ma-Jabal, led to the seizure of two plastic sachets of shabu and a loaded .45-caliber pistol. (Jerry J. Alcayde)
