1,895 cen­te­nar­i­ans to re­ceive P100,000 gift


THE na­tional gov­ern­ment has set aside P189.5 mil­lion of its bud­get for 2018 to pay for the P100,000 one-time cash grant of 1 ,895 Filipinos who City Rep. Luis Campos Jr. said.

Un­dertheCen­te­nar­i­an­sLa­wof2016, or Re­pub­lic Act 10868, Campos said all Filipinos who reach the age of 100 years old, whether re­sid­ing in the Philip­pines or abroad, are en­ti­tled to a Cen­te­nar­ian Gift of P100,000.

“In recog­ni­tion of their longevity, they will also re­ceive a con­grat­u­la­tory let­ter from Pres­i­dent Ro­drigo Duterte,” Campos said.

The cash gift is on top of all other re­wards cen­te­nar­i­ans may re­ceive from their re­spec­tive lo­cal gov­ern­ments.

Campos cred­ited his coll e a g u e, A l b ay Re p . Ed­cel Lagman, and his son, for­mer Al­bay Rep. Grex Lagman, for push­ing hard for the pas­sage of the Cen­te­nar­i­ans Law.

Mean­while, Campos said the gov­ern­ment has ear P3.767-tril­lion bud­get for 2018 to pay for the P500 monthly stipend of se­nior cit­i­zens.
