1,895 centenarians to receive P100,000 gift
THE national government has set aside P189.5 million of its budget for 2018 to pay for the P100,000 one-time cash grant of 1 ,895 Filipinos who City Rep. Luis Campos Jr. said.
UndertheCentenariansLawof2016, or Republic Act 10868, Campos said all Filipinos who reach the age of 100 years old, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad, are entitled to a Centenarian Gift of P100,000.
“In recognition of their longevity, they will also receive a congratulatory letter from President Rodrigo Duterte,” Campos said.
The cash gift is on top of all other rewards centenarians may receive from their respective local governments.
Campos credited his coll e a g u e, A l b ay Re p . Edcel Lagman, and his son, former Albay Rep. Grex Lagman, for pushing hard for the passage of the Centenarians Law.
Meanwhile, Campos said the government has ear P3.767-trillion budget for 2018 to pay for the P500 monthly stipend of senior citizens.
