Poe No. 1 in Pulse Asia senatorial poll

SEN. Grace Poe is the leading candidate among senatorial hopefuls in the May 2019 elections, according to the latest Pulse Asia survey released on Monday.

The poll, conducted from June 15 to 21 among 1,800 adult Filipinos nationwide, showed Poe topping the survey with 70.8 percent of the respondent­s saying they will vote for her.

Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano ranked second with 55.7 percent, followed by incumbent Sen. Cynthia Villar with 50.1 percent (for a statistica­l ranking of 3rd to 4th place).

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio garnered 46.2 percent (ranked 3rd to 5th), followed by Sen. Edgardo Angara Jr. with 41.9 percent (ranked 4th to 8th), former senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada with 37.9 percent (ranked 5th to 12th) and Bureau of Correction­s Director Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa with 37.7 percent (ranked 5th to 12th).

Completing the “Magic 12” are Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel 3rd with 37.7 percent ( ranked 5th to 12th), Sen. Nancy Binay with 37.1 percent (ranked 6th to 12th), former senator Sergio Osmeña with 36.6 percent (ranked 6th to 13th), former senator Lito Lapid with 36.2 percent (ranked 6th to 13th) and Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito with 35.6 percent (ranked 6th to 13th).

Sen. Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino placed 10th to 26th with 32.1, followed by Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos with 29.9 percent (ranked 13th to 20th), Quezon City Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista with 28.5 percent (ranked 13th to 20th), actor Robin Padilla with 28.2 percent (ranked 13th to 20th), broadcaste­r Mon Tulfo with 27.1 percent (ranked 14th to 21st), former senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas 2nd with 27.1 (ranked 14th to 21st) and former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. with 26.7 percent (ranked 14th to 21st).

Other names that were earlier outside the Top 12 in the Pulse Asia survey, such as Palace spokesman Harry Roque Jr., Special Assistant to the President Christophe­r Lawrence “Bong” Go, former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, broadcaste­r Ted Guingona 3rd, Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian, Domagoso “Isko” Moreno, Presidenti­al Adviser on Political Affairs Francis Tolentino, actress Agot Isidro and singer Freddie Aguilar.

The survey was conducted among 1,800 registered voters nationwide, with an error margin of ±2 percent.

It has error margins of ±6 for Metro Manila, ±3 in the rest of Luzon and ±5 each for the Visayas and Mindanao,
