Heavy Bombers host NCAA On Tour

JOSE Rizal University (JRU) hosts

- legiate Athletic Association (NCAA) On Tour games this Season 94 when it takes on Mapua University today at the Jose Rizal Gym.

The Heavy Bombers battle the Cardinals at 4 p.m. after their junior counterparts, the Light Bombers and the Red Robins, open the hostilities at 2 p.m.

head coach Vergel Meneses said that he is not expecting much as he rebuild the JRU squad this season.

“It will be a tough season for us but we will try to compete even though we’re really a young team,” said Meneses.

The Bombers parted ways with former top gunner Teytey Teodoro while Gio Lasquety, John Ervin Grospe, Abdul Razak Abdul Wahab and Abdel Poutouochi have already graduated.

Meneses is now counting on last season’s Most Improved Player and third-year guard Jed Mendoza along with MJ Dela Virgen, Aaron Bordon and former NCAA juniors MVP Darius Estrella, who just returned from injury.

Much like Meneses, Mapua chief coach Atoy Co will lean on newcomers following the graduation of Andoy Estrella and Hesed Gabo.
