QC councilors’ tour promotes arts, culture
AS PART of the weeklong celebrations of the Philippine Councilors’ Week, legislators of Quezon City toured the city’s prime destinations, including St. Pio Chapel, in Barangay Bagumbayan, on September 6.
After learning the chapel’s history and the miracles of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, the councilors proceeded to Barangay Holy Spirit, where they visited its Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), which recycles used paper and plastic straws. They lauded the village’s successful livelihood program, where residents supplies, and arts and crafts out of recycled materials.
The last stop was a tour of the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, in East Avenue. NKTI is one of the hospitals showcased in medical tourism, which Mayor Herbert Bautista envisioned to promote QC as a medical and wellness destination.
The legislators also hosted several activities, such as the councilors’ bazaar and activities on hairstyling and makeup, nail art, and health and wellness.
