QC coun­cilors’ tour pro­motes arts, cul­ture

AS PART of the week­long cel­e­bra­tions of the Philip­pine Coun­cilors’ Week, leg­is­la­tors of Que­zon City toured the city’s prime des­ti­na­tions, in­clud­ing St. Pio Chapel, in Barangay Bagum­bayan, on Septem­ber 6.

Af­ter learn­ing the chapel’s his­tory and the mir­a­cles of St. Pio of Pi­etrel­cina, the coun­cilors pro­ceeded to Barangay Holy Spirit, where they vis­ited its Ma­te­ri­als Re­cov­ery Fa­cil­ity (MRF), which re­cy­cles used pa­per and plas­tic straws. They lauded the vil­lage’s suc­cess­ful liveli­hood pro­gram, where res­i­dents sup­plies, and arts and crafts out of re­cy­cled ma­te­ri­als.

The last stop was a tour of the Na­tional Kid­ney and Trans­plant In­sti­tute, in East Av­enue. NKTI is one of the hos­pi­tals show­cased in med­i­cal tourism, which Mayor Her­bert Bautista en­vi­sioned to pro­mote QC as a med­i­cal and well­ness des­ti­na­tion.

The leg­is­la­tors also hosted sev­eral ac­tiv­i­ties, such as the coun­cilors’ bazaar and ac­tiv­i­ties on hairstyling and makeup, nail art, and health and well­ness.
